Eligibility for Prince Edward Island PNP program depends on the type of immigration category you are applying for. There are three major categories:
The Prince Edward Island PNP Express Entry program is for individuals who have an Express Entry profile and want to immigrate to Prince Edward Island. However, candidates for the Express Entry PNP will only be taken into consideration if their qualifications and experience meet the province’s current labor demands. Candidates under this program do not require job offer from the employer of Prince Edward Island.

Labour Impact Category
There are three streams under this category of Prince Edward Island Immigration Program:
International Graduate Stream
The International Graduate Stream of PEI PNP may be available to recent graduates from registered post-secondary schools in PEI who have been offered a full-time, long-term job in a skilled profession. Candidates must also possess a current Post-graduation Work Permit.
Skilled Worker Stream
Candidates who have relevant experience in skilled jobs and have been hired by a PEI employer may receive a provincial nomination under the Skilled Worker Stream. Applicants who are already employed in the province of Prince Edward Island can apply through the Skilled Workers in PEI stream.
- Age must be between 18-59
- Full-time job offer, cannot be seasonal
- Jobs fall under TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 are accepted
- Minimum 2 years of full-time work experience in the previous 5 years
- Minimum CLB/NCLC 4 in Language test results (English or French) or valid job offer
- Sufficient funds
Critical Worker Stream
This stream is for employees whose employers want to sponsor them for permanent residency after hiring them from a PEI employer previously. Applicants who meet the requirements may pursue an unskilled or semi-skilled job.
Eligibility requirements for Prince Edward Island PNP Express Entry:
- The age must be between 21 and 59
- Must receive a job offer for an eligible position from a PEI employer that is either full-time permanent or at least for two years
- Must fulfill the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 language criteria
- Must be financially capable of settling in PEI
- Must intend to live in Prince Edward Island

Business Impact Category
The work permit stream is the only stream in the business impact category of PEI PNP.
Work Permit Stream
People who want to invest in a PEI business may immigrate to Canada under Prince Edward Island Program. They will be required to start working in Canada and learn the company’s operations while they have a work permit. After that, individuals may submit a provincial nomination for permanent residence in PEI.
Eligibility requirements for Business Impact Category:
- The age must be between 21 and 59
- Must have completed at least secondary school
- Must meet the CLB’s minimal linguistic standards
- Business ownership or transferable management skills are required
- The planned business must be actively managed from PEI
- A minimum net worth of CAD $600,000
- The desire to live and work in PEI
- Must meet the Work Permit stream selection criteria
If you meet the aforementioned criteria, you need to create a profile in the Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
- You will receive a score out of 100 based on the details you provide in your profile.
- The applicants with the highest scores will be notified by e-mail.
- Your application must be submitted within 60 days after getting an invitation.
If your application is accepted, the Office of Immigration will contact you to arrange an in-person meeting to discuss your business plan and proposal. Once you’ve submitted a signed Performance Agreement, PEI might send you a letter of support. This letter can be used to submit a work permit application to the IRCC. After receiving your work visa, you must relocate to Prince Edward Island and present yourself at the PEI Office of Immigration within 30 days of your arrival. Your business will be assigned a Settlement Officer who will assist you in starting it up and running it successfully. Your settlement officer will also keep you updated on the status of your business on a regular basis. You will be nominated by PEI if you abide by the terms of the Performance Agreement and other prerequisites. After that, you can submit an application to IRCC for permanent residency in Canada.
