Francophone Mobility Work Permit
The Francophone Mobility Work Permit allows French-speaking individuals with job offers from Canadian companies (outside Quebec) to work in Canada with a streamlined process.
Why This Program?
Canada has two official languages: French and English. However, there is a growing need for French-speaking professionals in provinces outside Quebec. To address this, the Francophone Mobility Work Permit was introduced in 2016, making it easier for French-speaking workers to immigrate and contribute to the Canadian workforce.
Eligibility Requirements (Valid Until June 2025)
- Job Offer: You must have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer in any skill level.
- French Language Proficiency: A moderate level of French is required—B1 (CEFR) or CLB 5 in speaking and listening.
- Language Testing: Applicants whose first language is not French must take the TCF or TEF test to assess proficiency.
- Education Exception: If you have completed high school or post-secondary education in French, you do not need to take a language test.
Benefits of the Francophone Mobility Work Permit
- Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) Exemption: Employers do not need an LMIA to hire under this program.
- Faster Processing: The work permit application is processed more quickly than standard applications.
- Pathway to Permanent Residency: This permit can help facilitate permanent residency through various immigration streams.
