Exciting News! The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) Reopens for 2024 Applications
The demand to immigrate to Alberta has increased, far exceeding the province’s capacity to accommodate all applicants within the limited number of nominations received from the federal government annually. But there’s no need to worry anymore, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is back and accepting new applications so you can get your nomination to apply for Permanent Residency.
To manage the high demand and effectively allocate its 2024 nominations, the AAIP has introduced new guidelines. These changes aim to balance economic priorities across all sectors while offering multiple opportunities for applicants throughout the year.
Key Updates
- Managing High Demand and Limited Nominations
- The AAIP must strategically manage its 2024 allocation to meet economic needs across various sectors.
- New guidelines have been implemented for key streams to control processing times and nomination numbers.
- Adopted Guidelines for Specific Streams
- Effective June 11, 2024, the Alberta Opportunity Stream, Tourism and Hospitality Stream will follow the new application management approach.
- This approach is designed to provide multiple opportunities for applicants to apply year-round.
- Monthly Application Targets
- Each month, a targeted number of applications will be accepted into the pool from where the AAIP will draw.
- Applications will be accepted on the following dates in 2024: June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 5, and December 10.
- Once the monthly target is reached, no further applications will be accepted until the next date.
- Unchanged Eligibility Criteria
- The eligibility criteria for the Alberta Opportunity Stream, Rural Renewal Stream, Accelerated Tech Pathway, and Tourism and Hospitality Stream remain the same.
- Applicants should ensure they meet these criteria before applying.
- Staying Informed
- Application acceptance dates, targets, and processing times are posted on the AAIP processing times and application levels page.
- These details are subject to change, so applicants should check the page regularly for the most current information.
The new guidelines for the AAIP in 2024 reflect Alberta’s efforts to manage the high demand for immigration while ensuring economic priorities are met. By adopting a monthly application target approach, the AAIP provides applicants with multiple opportunities to apply throughout the year. This strategy aims to streamline the process and make it more manageable for both the applicants and the program administrators.
